This high powered student made campaign received nearly 34,000 views on YouTube for good reason. Student, Jack Innanen, put this short film together for a civics class in order to spread the word about mental illness and the stigma that surrounds it. He believes that the spread of the word can help "end the unnecessary social hush that has silenced so many".
The film follows a male adolescent through home and school and outlines what it is like living with mental illness. With virtually no verbal lines delivered, the viewer is put into a trance with rhythmic music; exemplifying the way one may feel on a day to day basis. The film quickly gets to the point with the actor taking his own life. Innanen wraps up the film with written copy stating the harm that is being done by keeping silent about the issue.
The film leaves the viewer in deep thought and a message that he hopes will resonate with them.
Speak up. Stop the stigma. It may save a life.
