About Me

Hi there. My name is Amanda and welcome to Find your Truth. I am a 23-year-old senior studying communication at Aurora University. I am recently engaged and planning my October wedding all while anxiously awaiting graduation. As graduation creeps closer and closer, the weight of reality falls heavier and heavier each day. But with everything going on, I can honestly say that this is the first year that I’ve been happy; truly happy with myself and my life.

For the past 5 years, I have attended counseling for a variety of reasons. From general anxiety and severe depression to discovering my identity and purpose, I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I know the feeling of being stuck inside your own head, as if there’s no way out. This is something I struggled with on a regular basis, one of the driving forces that brought me to counseling in the beginning. The counseling has helped, at times, but when it comes down to it, it’s a process that takes a looooong time. I’ve learned that I need to be patient with myself and my healing and forgive myself when that becomes difficult to do.

The purpose of this blog is to be a resource and guide for those that identify with these similar struggles. It is a place where you can feel understood, perhaps for the first time ever. Not only do I want to help and guide you, I hope to find my own healing in the process. This is a journey that I have begun and hope you ride along with me. As you journey along with me, I would love to hear your feedback and/or start a conversation. There are people out there who have felt the same way you do. This is the vessel I would like to see everyone connect.

Follow along and find your Truth with me.

I have been through years and years of counseling with many different therapists and many different outcomes, all helpful in their own respect. I would attend these weekly meetings as if they were another class with mandatory attendance and the results were inadequate.

Finally two years ago, I found the one. Finding a therapist that works for you is like finding your soulmate. It just works. It flows. You get results.

They may speak to you in a way that clicks. They may point things out that have never been brought to your attention. They shed light on a whole new world and it will change your counseling from then, on.

As I began my counseling with my new therapist, we spent about three weeks on discovering why I was there and what I wanted to get from my experience. It was a time to set goals for myself. To create light that would sit at the end of the tunnel. To find purpose for attending a weekly counseling meeting. She titled this search, Find your Truth.

I spend each week trying my damn best to be true to myself for once and explain to her what my purpose is. To answer her never ending question of “What is your Truth, Amanda?”

The purpose of this blog is to be a resource and guide for those that can identify with similar struggles. Not only do I want to help and guide you, I hope to find healing in the process.
